Mass Text is the moniker of Chris Sutter, the singer/guitarist of Chicago post punk trio Meat Wave. Mass Text is a sonic departure from his previous band and rich with menacing melodies drenched in reverb.
Mass Text has been simmering quietly since mid-2024 with just a few digital singles and a handful of shows, including a run of shows with DEHD in the UK in 2025. After seeing the Glasgow show, Static Sounds Club wrote, “His sound felt like it had seeped in from the edges of a dream, each song blooming with gorgeous decay and bittersweet melody.”
They are putting the final touches on a debut full length record produced by Jason Balla (DEHD, Accessory) and plan to tour in 2027 with a live band featuring members of Destroyer, Deeper, and Doom Flower.
Mass Text carves out its own lane appealing to fans of Galaxie 500, Destroyer, and Atlas Sound.
